Your Impact
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to join our Hardware team in Danbury, CT. In this role, you will own the manufacturability, scalability, compliance, and reliability of Acre’s (ComNet) hardware solutions. You will work closely with R&D, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and strategic partners to industrialize new products and support business growth.
What You’ll Do
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA) initiatives and scale-up efforts for enterprise-class electronic products, such as Ethernet switches and media converters.
- Partner with R&D and Production teams to optimize electronics assembly and manufacturing processes from prototype through volume ramp.
- Lead the creation of manufacturing process flows and Lean cells to support new product introductions (NPI).
- Develop and implement cost-reduction, yield improvement, and reliability-enhancement strategies.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain leadership to manage relationships with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers, ensuring streamlined and scalable production.
- Monitor production standards, evaluate internal manufacturing processes, establish NCR processes, and generate statistical reports on quality performance.
- Recommend and support improvements to the ERP system (NetSuite), with a strong understanding of BOM structures and routings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications, including ISO 9001 and related quality standards.
- Work closely with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to define, implement, and maintain robust quality control plans, including inspection and test strategies.
- Support facility management initiatives as needed.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field).
- Hands-on experience in electrical and electronic manufacturing and assembly.
- Proven expertise in DFM/DFA for electronic equipment, ideally including networking hardware such as Ethernet switches or media converters.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Sourcing, Production, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills, data-driven decision-making abilities, and comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with above-average skills in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with plant and production line layout optimization to improve operational efficiency and flow.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent continuous improvement experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or a strong project management track record.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- A strong track record of delivering cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives in manufacturing environments.
